Welcome Onboard!

On behalf of all team members, I’m pleased to welcome you to The Warehouse Group. By joining our team at Warehouse Stationery, you’ve become an important part of our organisation, and we look forward to working together as you develop your retail career with us.

Warehouse Stationery has come a long way since we opened our first store in Glenfield, Auckland in 1991. We’ve proudly revolutionised the stationery business and enjoyed huge growth cross New Zealand. Our strategy is to give customers everything they need to work, study, create and connect.

Retail is undergoing some exciting changes. The growth of online shopping and advancements in mobile devices mean that customers can now buy products from anywhere in the world, making retail a challenging and dynamic sector to be involved in.  We’re committed to growing your retail career with us through training and development that allows our people to be the best they can be in this fast-changing environment.

Here at Blue (as we’re known within our team), “we do doing” – we’re passionate about inspiring and enabling Kiwis to get the most out of their full, busy lives.  You’ll see that in the way we work as a team to deliver the best service to our customers and give back to New Zealand through our fundraising initiatives. We’re guided by a strong set of values that put excellence, innovation, passion, accountability, people focus and team success at the heart of everything we do.

This booklet contains valuable information that will help you settle into your role at Warehouse Stationery. Please take the time to read it and to get to know our business as we get to know you.

Your immediate team and everyone else at The Warehouse Group are here to help you, so please speak up if you have any questions. Everyone has started as a new team member, and they’ll be happy to help you find your way.

Using this handbook

Purpose of this handbook

The purpose of this handbook is to help you understand the standards, policies, and values that define the way we work here. It is to be read alongside the terms and conditions in your Employment Agreement. Please take time to read it and keep it handy for future reference for working at Warehouse Stationery (WSL).  

It is divided into three sections:

1.      Our Guiding Principles

2.      Our House Rules

3.      Managing your Career and Employment

Included are policy statements which explain our rules, guide judgements and attempt to   resolve or prevent conflict. Warehouse Stationery is a responsible employer and where relevant our policies are supported by New Zealand Employment Law. Discuss with your Manager any questions you may have.

Where there is a breach in policy, a consequence may be disciplinary action.  

Updates: This handbook will be updated, republished and redistributed as required by People Support. Team Members will be notified of any policy changes made by email or by bulletin.

Glossary of terms

Employment Agreement

The agreed terms and conditions of your employment with Warehouse Stationery. 

Values

Our six core values which guide our behaviour and interaction with each other at work.

Policy

Warehouse Stationery rules and regulations. These are non-negotiable behaviours.  Breaches may lead to disciplinary action. They are shown in this handbook in italics

Procedure

Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) define the process to complete standard tasks you may need to complete during your employment.

Team Member

Any employee of Warehouse Stationery.

Manager

A Team Member who manages another Team Member.

Executive Team Member

A Team Member who is on the Warehouse Stationery Executive Team and who heads a department, ie: General Manager or Head of Department.

“We”

“We” is used in the context of this booklet to mean Warehouse Stationery Limited.

“You”

“You” is used in the context of this booklet to mean you as an employee of Warehouse Stationery.
